About CIMPA

Our Mission

The CIMPA School 2026 aims to provide advanced training in homological methods and their applications in noncommutative algebra and number theory. This two-week program will bring together leading experts and early-career researchers from around the world, creating a stimulating environment for learning, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. Participants will benefit from a series of Basic and advanced courses, and problem-solving sessions designed to bridge fundamental concepts with cutting-edge developments in the field. Special emphasis will be placed on fostering interaction between established mathematicians and young researchers, encouraging the development of new collaborations and research directions. By the end of the school, participants will have gained not only technical expertise but also a broader perspective on the current challenges and open problems in homological methods, noncommutative algebra, and number theory. The CIMPA School 2026 thus serves as a platform to inspire innovation and strengthen the international mathematical community.

About SASTRA University

SASTRA Deemed to be University Campus - Main Building and Grounds

SASTRA Deemed to be University

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu • Established 1984

Excellence in Education

With a humble beginning in the year 1984, SASTRA's progress in the last 40 years is a testimony to its commitment to building a University as envisaged in its guiding model. Today, SASTRA is one of India's premier institutions offering undergraduate, postgraduate & doctoral programmes in Engineering, Management, Law, Sciences, Humanities and Education. It was conferred Deemed-to-be-University status in 2001 by the University Grants Commission under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. SASTRA also has an MHRD-notified off-campus named Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre (SRC) at Kumbakonam.

As a comprehensive University, its teaching programmes are complemented by research engagements, consultancy assignments, training, and extension activities. It had been re-accredited by NAAC (fourth cycle) with a maximum grade of 'A++' (3.76/4.00) and is a Category I Institution based on the UGC's categorization of Universities for Graded Autonomy Regulations, 2018. Twelve engineering programmes of SASTRA have been internationally accredited for a period of 9 years by the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), UK recognizing SASTRA's academic excellence.

SASTRA Ramanujan Award

SASTRA has instituted the SASTRA-RAMANUJAN AWARD comprising $10,000 and a citation for outstanding researchers all over the world under the age of 32, since 2005. This award has been instituted with a view to embolden young minds to pursue cutting-edge research in Mathematics influenced by Srinivasa Ramanujan and increase the visibility of Mathematics both at the national and international levels. The prize has established itself as one of the most prominent and coveted international awards. Six out of the 21 SASTRA Ramanujan awardees have gone on to win the Fields Medal subsequently. The prize is given every year on 22nd December.

Cultural Heritage

Thanjavur, the cultural capital of Tamil Nadu and home to the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), offers participants a unique blend of academic rigor and rich cultural heritage, making this CIMPA School an enriching experience both intellectually and culturally.
